  1. Introductory Remarks (5 Minutes)
    1. Review of the district's financial unsustainability
    2. Strategic planning vs. Interim planning
  2. Committee Charges (5 Minutes)
    1. Interim Planning Committee: Deliver a recommended interim plan to the Superintendent on November 1, 2006.
    2. Interim Planning Subcommittees: Evaluate selected models and deliver findings to Interim Planning Committee on October 15, 2006.
    3. Interim Planning Steering Committee: Manage overall process and assist sub-committees as needed.
  3. District Mission and Goals (5 Minutes)
    1. We left off last meeting discussing district vision/mission. Please see attachment containing the district's latest stated mission and goals.
    2. Interim Planning Committee Guideposts:
      1. Quality education for children
      2. Long-term financial sustainability
  4. Ground Rules (15 Minutes)
    1. We left of discussing common goals, so we will resume at that point having already reviewed the district's stated goals.
  5. Major Options (60 Minutes including 5 minute break at midpoint)
    1. In no particuliar order, the following models were derived from our brainstorming session, which is included in your packets for reference.
      1. Status Quo
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Retain current building structure. Introduce new programming into each building as determined.
      2. Regional Elementary
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Convert BSE into regional elementary school. Begin process of funneling students from outer lying elementary schools to BSE.
      3. Union
        1. Dissolve current regional agreement. Create some combination of regional elementary districts and/or town elementary districts similiar to Hawlemont and Rowe. Form 7-12 regional MS-HS.
      4. Consolidation
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Identify buildings for closure based on select criteria.
      5. K-12
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Convert MS-HS building into K-12 school. Begin process of funneling students from elementary schools to K-12 school according to select criteria.
      6. K-8
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Close MS. Send 7-8 graders back to sending elementary schools. Convert MS-HS to HS.
      7. Middle School
        1. Retain current regional agreement. Convert BSE into MS. Redistribute students from BSE to other elementary schools. Convert MS-HS to HS.
      8. Other
        1. Did we miss any?
    2. Do each of these models make sense and warrant full consideration?

    1. To fulfill committee charges
